| COMMITTEE MEETING. I A meeting of the committee of the Horowhcnuu Horticultural and Industrial Society was held at the Readingroom, Otakj, on Friday night last, when there were present: —Mrs Hodgson. Messrs Frank Penn (president), H. AVitchcll, H. Cockrell, AV. Summers and S. Norgrove (secretary), and Rev. Petrie. Apologies were received for the absence of several members.
Mrs Russell, of AVellington, wrote in connection with her offer to give a demonstration of the art of arranging flowers, stating that she would be willing to give two demonstrations early in October. Mrs Russell also suggested some additions to the prize list, and offered a special prize herself.—Arrangements for demonstration were left over until next meeting. - Several letters were read from various gentlemen offering special prizes for the Society’s next two shows. Mrs .T. li. Bills wrote resigning from her position on the committee, owing to pressure of work.—-Mrs T. Synnott was unanimously elected to Jill tlie
Tho reports of the various sub-com-mittees set up to revise the'prize list were received and considered at length, the schedules for the next Spring and Autumn Shows being ultimately adopted. Several special prizes were handed in at the meeting, but it was reported that several other likely donors had not yet been interviewed? It was decided to make efforts to secure all promises for special prizes as soon as possible.
“A sub-committee, comprising -Mr; Hodgson. Mr AVitchcll and the chair man and secretary, was set up to allot special prizes, this committee, to meet next Thursday, after which the
schedules will be handed into the prill tors.
The meeting decided to hold its season’s shows on November 19th and March 17th, and the chairman and Mr AVitchcll were deputed to make arrangements for hall for shows.
