SCHOOLBOYS’ MATCH. A hockey match that has been looked forward to with interest by the scholars and supporters of the Otaki State and Convent schools, was played on Saturday, when, after a hardfought and keenly-contested game, a draw—two goals each —resulted. Both sides were eager for the fray, and lined up with.keen interest. The game was, on the whole, of an even nature, and the scores were consistent with the play. Bennett and D’Ath, both of whom played splendidly, scored for the Convent, while Cook ami Coot us, two hard grafters, scored for the State school. Apart from tho fine play of tho scorers there were many others who played a hard, clean game, but young D’Ath proved head and shoulders above any of the other players. On AVcdnesday next two championship matches which should arouse considerable interest will be played. The Excelsior (Levin) team will visit Otaki. and as they are a much-improv-ed combination will, no doubt, give a good account of themselves. Tainui will journey to Te Iloro, and as they are strengthened by several experienced players the contest should prove more interesting than some expect. .
