RECORD PRICES.
£36 15s FOR A DAIRY COW. The sale of dairy cattle held in Bruce Road, Levin, on Friday last, under instructions from Mr F. A. Williams. attracted a large attendance of buyers, says the “Chronicle.” The dairy herd of 24 cows was in excellent condition considering the season of the year. This was reflected in the prices received, the bidding being very spirited, record prices being made for dairy stock for this district, and probably for the Dominion. Twelve cows corning into early profit averaged £24 os, the top price being £36 15s for a large-framed crossbred animal. - A few pedigree Jerseys were also submitted to auction, a caw realising GO guineas, null 20 guineas, heifer calf 10 guineas, and 12-inonths heifer 2-3 guineas.
