“BURNING PLENTY COAL."

GOVERNOR’S PLEASURE CRUISE DURING THE CRISIS.

“It is quite useless blaming the Government or anyone else, and I am not going to do that, but we hear that others have plenty of coal, ” remarked Mr W. H. Field, M.P., when (as a member of a deputation) he was addressing members of the Cabinet on Wednesday-. “We are glad to hear that the coastal steamers have plenty coal. Then, the Governor-General is having a pleasure cruise and burning plentycoal. Still, I am not going into whether the Government could have saved the position or not.”

The Hoa. W. H. Herries said that the bunker coal which was being used by the steamers was not much use to the railways.
