FESTIVITIES AT OTAKI.' Given fine weather, the Peace Celebrations at Otaki should prove most successful, and fittingly mark the memorable occasion. The gala day ou Saturday (Peace Day) will be of special significance to tlie children, and as 5 a matter of course the children will be specially considered in the arrangements for the day. It is pleasing to know that the Te Horc and AA’uihoauga districts are combining with Otaki in one big celebration on Saturday at Otaki, and if only the weather eondilions are favourable Peace Day should bo a red-letter day for 'ho district, and for the children in particular. The procession will ".include feturned soldiers, military men, territorials, cadets, tradesmen’s turnouts, displays by the local Druids, Red Cross ami other organisations, the general public, and last, but by no means least, the big Silver Band from AVellington. The baud will also play an important part in the big uwked thanksgiving service at Brights’ j Theatre on Sunday afternoon, and give | a grand sacred concert at the same building on .Sunday night, after Hie regular church services. On Mnmlay afternoon, too, an oper-uir performance will be given in tho Sanatorium grounds, which will give an exeat!ent opportunity fer the public to hrar more of the baud and at the same time give the “San.” patients a treat. There will to all sorts of amusements for the children at tlie racecourse »n Saturday, including a capital sports programme, for which excellent prizes will be provided. The children will be provided with an ample supply' of refreshments, out adults are requested to

bring their own provisions. The celebrations will conclude on Monday night with a big patriotic concert in Brights’ Theatre. The Rev. Petrie and; A!r Puku Rikihann, who have this function in Hand, will provide an excellent.concert, that should prove a fitting finale to the celebration*. A dance will follow. AVith the Government subsidy the Peace Committee have in sight £IOO, but at least another £2O is needed. Anyone willing to help by a donation should leave same with any one of the com-

mittee. . Air Alacghrrn, holder of several championships, has offered to give a* exhibition of eyclo ridi*g on. fence Day. Air Byron Brown this morning reecived word that some forty members of the Wellington Silver Baud v.wnM make the visit on Saturday. It is doubtful if the Rev.
