FOOTBALL.
Formed on Thursday, a practice Friday, and a championship match on Saturday is the record h»ld by ,the Otaki Junior'Football Club, which met the Levin juniors at Levin on Saturday. Lack of combination, lack of form, and outclassed by weightier opponents, was a severe handicap to the Otaki boys, who, nevertheless, put up a. good fight, t-nd at times showed line play. In the fust half Joe Wilson and Thompson drop-kicked goals from marks, while Morris scored a try, unconverted. Early in the second spell Fox added a try to the score, then Puna seored a clever try for Otaki, 12.;}. Then Rangi added another try for Levin, after which Pum again scored after some fine work. Rawiri convercd, and tBo game endoi 15-G. Tho Levin boys—a solid combination —put in good work, and had a decided advantage in weight, combination, and form. Otaki had several "passengers," but there were others who put up fine performances. Puna, Rawiri. and Tana were especially prominent, while somo of the more inexperienced players showed to advantage. Mr J. Smith was referee.
A match, Hntt School Boys v. Levin Boys, was played at Levin, when the latter won S-3. The visitors, although small, were the smarter team, and crossed the line more than once only to be held up and carried out by their mighty opponents.
