STREET LIGHTING.

To tlic Editor. 1 have U> congratulate the Town Board op malting a move to light our streets, but X have to condemn the position' of some of the lamps, notably, the one at Cockrell’s corner and the one at Edwards’ corner. The lamp at Cockrell’s corner simply shows down the main street, whereas if placed, on the corner it would show a light four ways. The same thing applies to Ed-, wards’ corner. As far as those living out towards the Library tire concerned, they will not benefit at all. and speaking on behalf Of the Public Library, it is sad to know that so little notice is taken of an institution that could be made a place of entertainment for our j youth. The Horticultural and Bulb Societies appear to flourish, but what ] good is that for the majority of our , young people? Nothing! The fact is, 1 there is something to be gained front j the two societies I have mentioned, but th? reading-room is a question of Christian charity, and as trie young people have no one game enough to take up the cudgels on their behalf they tire left to do the best they can for themselves. I have put up more than one light on their behalf, and I shall continuqjto agitato until some philanthropic'persons come along to aid me in ) making the reading-room what it should bo—a place of enlightened recreation for the youth of this town.
