HOSPITAL BOARD.
At the Palmerston North Hospital Board meeting last Thursday, with regard to the Martin Memorial, the Department of Public Health wrote statin- the Minister did not approve a sultrily beyond the £2OOO already promised to fhe Board, and therefore the amount of £lOl 10s lOd had been deducted from the subsidy claim seat in. —Received.
The Manawatu County Council wrote forwarding a resolution suggesting that the daily payment of patients be raised in consideration of the incseased levies on local bodies. —Referred to the forth-

The matter of accepting tenders for I the installation of an electric ‘lighting I plant at the new hospital buildings was j left in the hands of the chairman, j }[ r s Gill brought forward the neeesj sity of heating the Old People’s Home, * and the chairman was ashed to make inquiries as to .the best means of pro*, riding for this, Mrs Gill sarcastically remarked that *‘possibly they might got it done in time for next winter. The Board decided, on the motion of Dr. Whitaker, that representatives of neighbouring hospital boards, such as Wanganui, Waipawa, and Xew Plymouth. be asked to meet representatives of the local bonxl- in informal discussion with a view to ascertaining whether it was possible to coordinate with any method? of economy in a£ministration consistent with an efficient and increased benefit, to the public. The chairman and Dr. Whitaker were de- : puted to represent the Board at the conference..
