COMMITTEE MEETING. A njeeting of the committee of the Horowhenua Horticultural and Industrial Society was held at .the Headingroom, Otaki, on 'Friday night last. Present: Messrs Frank Penn (president). L. Kilmister, G. A. Griffiths, A. \V. Broadway, H. Small, H. AVitchcll, S. Xo'rgrovo (secretary), Rev, Petrie, and Mrs 1.. Kilmister.
Mrs Russell, Wellington, who acted as judge at the last Otaki Show, wrote offering to conic to Otaki and give demonstrations 011 the art of arrangement of flowers. The committee thought such demonstrations would be invaluable to those fond of arranging flowers, and the secretary was instructed to "write thanking Mrs Russell for her kind offer, and suggesting that she give the. demonstration shortly before the next Spring and Autumn Shows, on dates to be arranged. Due notice of the dates will be given publicity.
The following sub-committees were set up to revise the schedules and report to a.further meeting of the general committee, to lie held on Friday, ofth inst: — l’ot plants and cut blooms, Messrs Small, Wit eh ell and Summers: fruit and vegetables, Messrs Cockrell, Kilmister, Broadway and Griffiths; bouquets and decorations, Mr Summers and Miss Penn; sehoolwork, Rev. Petrie and Miss Kdmed; needlework, Mosdnnie.s Hutlnvaite and Hodgson; domestic. Mesdaincs Kilmister, Baker and Bills. it was decided that all members 01 the committee canvass for special prizes for the next two shows, and it was hoped to got all promises for same in by next meeting. Various matters pertaining io the advancement of the Society’s interests were discussed and the meeting tip--" initiated.
