CLOSING DOWN. A FINE RECORD. Owing to Government instructions the Otaki branch of St. John Ambulance and Red Cross Society has now ceased operations. Special mention must be made of Mrs W. Best, who has made over 225 pyjama suits as well as other articles. In additioii to the above, when the Guild was first formed for hospital ship No. 2, Otaki and surrounding districts contributed £179 12s and over 3000 various articles were made and sent

away. Balance-sheet. Following is a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Society for the half-year ending March 31:— Receipts.—Donations and collections, £2O Ss 9d; flowfcrs, £29 Ss 7d; shop, £62 Ss 9d; sundries. £9 12s Cd; balance 30th September, 1919, £6O 16s 2d. Total, £IS2 14s,
