COMMERCIAL.
HIDES, TALLOW, ETC. The N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Co., Ltd., report that, at their last sale there was a fair attendance of buyers, and competition was spirited In some instances. The prices realised were good, some lines bringing fully Id to I’d above last sale. The tanners again exercised Die option give* them under Gazette notice, and secured considerable lines of calfskins and hides. Tallow.—The demand for this class of product was much more pronounced, and competition was extremely keen. Prices realised: Casks 28s to 41s fid; tins, 2fis to 38s.
The range of prices was as under:— Hides.—Ox, heavy, 401 b up, 12Jd to lid; ox, medium, 50 to 53, Jl jd to 33Jd; ox, light, -191 b and under, 3()';d to 32|d; cow, heavy, 551 b and over, 11 |d to ll?d; cow, medium, 42)b to s(io, 30<| to 12]d; cow, light, umler 421 b, 3Old to 12Id; cut, slippy and inferior, (Sid to bull stag, 8d to Vhl; yearKagi, 101 b to 2-11 b, 303 d to ljjjdj calf, superior, up to 3«>lb, 17J to ISO; calf, medium to good, 35d to 17Jd; calf, damaged, 3d to 35d. Tails, 9d per do'/.. Horsehair, 9d per lb.
