OUR WAR BILL.

ESTIMATED AT £75,000,000. Wellington, May 20. The Acting-Minister of Finance, referring to a cablegram quoting the cost of the war to various countries, says a total of £75,750,000 is given as the figure to which our war expenses’ account will eventually attain, and in this sense the estimate by the Australian statistician is on the moderate side. The actual cost of the war to New Zealand to 31st March last was £62.500,000. When to this is added our expenditure on pensions, repatriation, discharged soldiers’ settlement, interest, etc.. the full cost of the part ue took in the struggle will ultimately surpass the figure of £75,500,000 referred to. Until, however, one has the complete figures on which to base an estimate, it is impossible to state accurately the amount of the Dominion’s total expenditure on .the war.
