Ordinary traffic will be resumed on the Main Trunk lino ns from to-day, the debris of the recent accident having boon sufficiently cleared away to enable all trains to get through. Nominations arc invited by the Otaki Town Board for the position of commissioner rendered vacant by the retirement of Mr W.' 11. Reynolds, who shortly leaves for England.
A farewell dance will bo accorded Messrs 0. Wilson and E. Clark, who shortly leave for Gisborne, at the Tainui meeting-house on Wednesday night, when an enjoyable time is assured all who attend.
Mr Moses Ayrton delivered a lecture at Levin on Friday night last, when the second session of the Levin branch of the. W.E.A. was opened. At the close of the meeting some 23 persons remained behind and handed in their names as members.
A meeting of the Otaki Bowling Club will bo held on Wednesday next, at 7.30 p.m. for the purpose of considering the formation of a croquet club and making arrangements for a bowlers’ ball. All ladies interested are invited to attend,
Tlic liner Arawa, which arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning from London via Panama and Lyttelton, brought 92 first-class passengers, and in the steerage 79 soldiers’ -wives, 4ti children, and four civilians. The troops comprised 03 sergeants and 403 privates.

Wellington is not usually regarded as a centre at which large numbers of divorce cases come before the Supreme Court, but for the session opening today an unprecedented number is set down for hearing. There are 49 cases on the list, in all of which, with the exception of one, claims are made for dissolution of marriage, the exception being an application for a judicial senaration.
There is in existence in Wellington a society of young girls who hare set themselves the task of caring for the graves of iSew Zealand soldiers buried in the Karori cemetery who have no relatives handy to do this loving ser vice
There are some 13S of these graves, and the regular provision of flowers for these is quite a strain on the Wellington girls, who are showing inueh zeal in their work. To help overcome this difficulty, ilrs HadSeld, of Paraparauma. has thoughtfully gathered together a hand of Paraparaunru girls, who will send a supply of flowers to Wellington fortnightly to assist in this way. The girls both in Paraparaumu and Wellington deserve every encouragement in this good work.

Particulars of the sale of stock, etc., to be held on behalf of the trustees of the late Mr D. I. Larsen, of Parapaumu, on Monday next, are advertised. The list includes some first-class stock, which should find ready sale. A number of registered Shorthorn cows, heifers and bulls, implements, six acres of swedes, stacks of hay, and thp contents of a four-roomed cottage, appear in the advertised list', while we refer our readers to the auctioneers’ (Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd.) note that appears at the foot thereof.
A social and dance will bo held on Friday next in the Otaki Town Hall to raise funds to assist the local Horticultural Society, which had tho misfortune to lose heavily on account of the recent influenza outbreak. The affair, which is under tho best of management, should bo largely patronised, as the gathering promises to bo one of iho most enjoyable held locally for fiomo time, while the object is quo worthy of the best support. Ladies will bo admitted at Is, while gents will be charged Is fid.
Efforts are b.cing made in Faraparumu to revive interest in tennis, that has flagged somewhat during the past few years, on account of the war. Tho tennis court On the Paraparaumu Domain needs improving, and a few enthusiasts arc trying hard to get sufficient iunds to top-dress it. It has been decided to hold a fancy dross and masquerade dance at the Coronation Hall on Monday. June 2nd, with the object of raising funds for this good object. Misses M. Lynch and A. Newmans aro joint secretaries of the affair, and are making elaborate preparations for tho dance, which promises to bo the beat ever held at “Pram.” Particular? are advertised.
