The Acting-Prime Minister (Sir James Allen) states tha.t the Govern, ment has been in communication with the Imperial ( Government to art whether they could say if the celebrations were to take place on the signing of the preliminary pcaco or tho final peace. “Wo have not been able to get an answer,” said Sir James, “s* wt have had to decide for ourselves. Cabinet has had the matter under com sideratiou, and has come to tho couch, sion that fhe celebrations should taka place on tho signing of the preliminary peace, and as this may take place at •my time, thoso local authorities wlit desire to carry out peaeo celebration* are warned that they should make their preparations to do so without delay. The Minister for Infernal Affairs has been asked to circulate this information to local bodies. As so»:i as we get official intimation of the the preliminary peace wo will notify tho public.
