QUARTERLY CIRCUIT MEETING.

The quarterly meeting of officials in connection with the Otaki circuit oi the Methodist Church, was held at the The-Horo church-on Monday evening last. Present: Rev. Hcdlcy AYliiic (chairman), Mrs Penn, Misses Kiri: and Best. Messrs AV. J. Row, A. Anderson, (.. AV. Kiri:, Frank. Penn, Harold Cockrell, 11. Best, and AA r . Alexander. It was reported that’.Mr AV. Alexander had tendered his resignation ax home missionary, and would be leaving the district at-the end of the month. The balauccrshcet, presented by the senior circuit steward, showed that the deficit of nearly £2O at the beginning of tlic quarter had been wiped out, and there was a small credit balance in ! hand, although there was one return yet to come in" The income for the quarter amounted to about £l6O. Permission ’ was given for the Otaki, Te Horo and ParaparuumtTchurches to hold their church anniversaries during tffo current quarter, and it was also decided that Foreign Mission collections be taken up at Manakau during the quarter. The Sunday school reports regarding the Otaki, Otaki Railway, Manakau, Te Horo and Paraparaumu Sunday, schools were all ol a satisfactory nature. It was reported that a school had been started recently at Paeknkariki, and was progressing well. There were 22 names on the roll already. Mr G. IV. Kirk consented to act as missionary agent for the circuit until a suitable successor was available. Mr Kirk reported that the sum of £0 7s lid had been raised during the past quarter for Foreign Missions, and £3 4s for Home Missions. It was decided to endeavour to form missionary committoes in each centre, the conveners .of these committees, together with Mr Kirk, to act as a missionary committee for the whole circuit.

It was reported that the debt on tlis new church at Manakau bad been reduced to £125, and a loan for that amount had been received from the Loan Fund Commttec. This would be repaid by regular instalments. .Mr John .Staples was elected a society steward at* Manakau, while Messrs Frank Penn and G. AV. Kirk' were re elected circuit stewards. The matter of providing means of travelling for tlic newly-appointed minister (Rev. AV. Slade) was left over until Mr Slade’s arrval in the district.Next meeting was fixed to. be held

at Otaki on Tuesday, July Stli. ' the close of the meeting those present were royally entertained at supper by tlic Te Ilo'ro ladies.
