WELCOME HORSE.
The Westmoreland, with the members of the Pioneer Battalion aboard, arrived at Auckland on Saturday. The Maoris were given a hearty welcome at Auckland. The Wellington portion of the returned Maoris are being entertained at Wanganui to-day, tomorrow they will be at Levin, and on Wednesday will arrive at Otaki, where they will be given a right rtfyal welcome by Maoris and Europeans.
A "welcome home" will be accorded the local members of the Pioneer Battalion at the Otaki Town Hall on Wednesday afternoon, when returned soldiers are invited to bo present in uniform. The gathering promises io be a successful one, as the Natives are making elaborate preparations for i the occasion.
In..the evening a social will be held in the Town Hail (under tho auspices of the local Natives and the Otaki Patriotic Society), when a very big gathering is anticipated. We hope the public will muster in foree on this ectasias, and give the boya a rigaj royal .welcome home. ...''
