$ j. The Pioneer Battalion, consisting of Maoris, brought out by the transport ■ Westmoreland, is expected to arrive in .Auckland on Saturday, April nth. The Defence!- Minister said yesterday that the arrangements are that they are to be landed hi Auckland for a reception ' there. The East Coast Maoris are to j proceed by the Mapourika the same i evening to Gisborne and be landed ! there. Those who have to come on i from' Gisborne to Napier for distribu--1 (ion in that district will lie brought on : by the Mapourika, and after -4 hours in Gisborne the men for distribution f from Wellington will come on by the t same vessel. The men for the West I Coast of the North Island and the I stouth Island Maoris will come down by train from Auckland the same even- ; iug. and are to stop at Wanganui for a reception there.
