f FAREWELL SOCIAL,

Probably the largest crowd that has yet assembled at the Waihoauga school gathered on Friday night to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs .Icpson, who are to take up residence at Joinisonville, and Mr and Airs Hill, who have secured property at Lfvin. All arc highly re- j spected residents, very popular, and j who will be much missed. The gather- ; ing took the form of a dance-social, and items by Misses Cole (2) and Alias Ad- ‘ die Fielding added considerably to the , harmony of the evening. Dancing formed a pleasing'feature. the tine play- j ing of Mr Beauchamp, and a good floor, leaving nothing to be desired. Airs Dodds supplied an extra in good style. Air Jcpson received a pipe and tobacco pouch, while •Airs Hopson was the recipient of a sil- ; •ver hot-water kettle, Air Hill a form- ! tain pen, and Mrs Hill a silver teapot.Air Beauchamp, in making the presentations, referred in the highest terms to the guests, spoke of their valu- ; able services to the. district, regretted [ their departure, and wished them Godspeed. 1 The presents were gracefully aeknow- ’ lodged.

The euchre tournament caused much interest, the lady’s prize being won by Miss Beauchamp and the gent's trophy by Air L. Renwiek. The lady-'s consolation prize was won by Mrs Dodds, and the gent's “booby” by Air Broadmore. • 'The social will long be remembered as one of the most successful held in the district, and if many such gatherings eventuate a hall will be necessary,
