SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.
OTAKI RAIL WAY SUNDAY SCHOOL. The Otaki Railway Methodist Sunday School anniversary social was held at*Mr Stevens' Hall on Wednesday evening last, when there was a large attendance of parents, friends and children, and a pleasant evening was spent. The - following programme . was successfully carried out, all of. the items being well received: —Hymn, .pianoforte solo, Mita Taylor; recitation, Violet Lund; song, girls;- recitation, Mr W. Alexander; song, "Hearts and Homes," girls; recitation, Helen Anderson; song, "Soldiers (Si, the Hing L " boys: recitation, Leslie Anderson: son. "Rub-a-dub-dub.' girls; recitation. Olive Anderson; pianoforte solo,'Miss Millie Smith; recitation, Esnvie Cornish; song, "Three Old Maids," girls: recitation, Myrtle Smith; cornet solo,
Master. Taylor; reading, Mr Crawford... • The -balanse-sheet .presented showed the total receipts for the year were Sl4 14s 7Jd,"and theloxpenditure £S Ss, thusleaving a credit balance in hand of £6 6s 7*d..; .-" - .
The : 3uperintendent of the school (Mr A.' Anderson) V made ; a. few remarks, in whielr-lie.stated that they had opened the year'with 3 & 01i the roll,, and they, had 33 The average attendance had been 18. During the year another class had been -added, making r four in all.

Then !was now a substantial credit balano; in hand, but they had yet to; pay fo'i ,prizes, and for the current yetu-'s sup- ' plies. Thanks tvere extended to va.rit ous kind friends for assistance, and to i Mr Stevens for kindly granting the use •of his hall free for that, night's .function, " Rev. IXedley White, Who occupied the chair, also made a few appropriate remarks, and congratulated Mr Anderson and the teachers on tli;■ goo.d work done during the year at the school. The .following prizes were distributed '(highest possible marks, 223); ! Class I.—Nest a Anderson 21S, Leslie Anderson 213, AUvyn Bennett 212. ' Class 2 —Olive Anderson 22:!, Rita Bennett 181. Class 3.—Roy Churchill IS<\! Alf. Bennett 176, Melvin Komplon (part year) 92. Class -I.—Helen Anderson -22, Maud Bennett 201. Prize Tor bringing must new scholars. —Violet Lund. Prize for highest number of marks (presented by Mrs Taylor) .-—Helen and Olive Anderson (equal). * At the close of tho programme supper was handed round, and so ended a most enjoyable and successful gathering.
