FARLAND'S PICTURES.

To-morrow will see the screening of "The Amazons." A gymnasium full of dumb-bells, Indian clubs, ladders, ropes, pulleys ami all the. other paraphernalia, including a largo swimming pool, was used for the filming of this picture, and during the course of it Miss Clark underwent severe training at the hands of a physical director, who instructed her also in the art of fencing and boxing. She had several stiff bouts with the instructor, and before the curl of the training period the latter was forced to put up a good defence, as Miss Clark's natural agility and lithe quickness made her a formidable foe after she had mastered the elements of the sport. "I certainly wish the scenario department would find me some more roles like this" one," laughed_ Marguerite Clark, as she balanced gracefully on a trapeze, during the taking of some scenes for "The Amazons." "It has been wonderfully good fun, and besides I've gained five pounds, sleep better, and, best of all, no ordinary studio work can tire me after what we've been through during my ''training' as Tommy."

"HEARTS Or THE WORLD." This line picture will be shown on Tuesday next. Judging by the opinions of those in a position to judge, it is one of the best pictures screened in New Zealand. It is referred to as "D. W. Griffith's tremendous, lnagnific, and unequalled spectacular motion play," and was taken in France at the express direction of the British Government. It is claimed'to be even superior to "The .Birth of a "Nation," "Intolerance,'' and such films. In it will be shown one million men.in nation, 20,000 horses, miles of artillery, scpiadrons of aeroplanes, fleets of Zeppelins,.a charge by tanks, "the fall of cities, and numerous other battle scenes.
