LAWN TENNIS.
f OTAKI V. WELLINGTON TEAM. I .-•'■'- \ —; A most enjoyable match was played on the Olaki courts on St. Patrick's Day, when a visiting team from Wellington —comprising mostly members of !the Victoria College Tennis Club—tried conclusions with the local tennis players. The visitors' team was a fairly strong combination, and as several "of the Otaki players wcro rather out of form, Wellington secured an easy victory by 16 sets to S. However, the play in many sets was most interesting. The ladies provided a plentiful supply of daiutv refreshments, and the visitors expressed themselves delighted with the outing. The weather was beautiful. The "Wellington men wou all .their singles nearly all by big margins—but in the doubles; though all went to Wellington, play was much more interesting. Otaki ladies won two of their singles. Misses Hodge and Atiuore, . who have had many" a battle royal on , the Otaki courts, met once again. The j Victoria College' "crack" was not in j good form, and Otaki'S champion lady I won fairly easily. The Olaki laities won two of their three doubles,, while Otaki managed to secure four of the six combined doubles.
