Mr Pcrclval Gillies, farmer, from To Horo, in the Otaki district, who went to Waipawa for tho purpose of arranging for the purchase of a property at Argyll, had an experience on Thursday, night which he is not likely to havo any, desire to repeat (says the Waipawa "Mail"). Ho was staying at tho Empire Hotel with his son, both sleeping in the one room. During the night—at what hour is not known, as the lad was not disturbed—Mr Gillies got up in his sleep, put his clothes over his pyjamas, and went out. Apparently he walked across the traffic bridge, for his coat and vest were found on the bridge next morning. Mr Gillies was found by Messrs Lambert and Ford, about six o'clock, lying on the riverbed with hitf right leg fractured. He was removed with all care to the hotel, where it was found he had sustained a compound fracture. Later he was transferred to the private hospital. Mr Gillies has absolutely no recollection of anything that occurred from the time that he retired until he found himself on "'0 riverbed. This is riot the first occnsWtj on which he has walked in his--sleep, but in his previous experiences he was fortunate enough to escape meeting with an accident.
