NEW AEROPLANE ENGINE
GARNET HOLMES, INVENTOR.
Auckland, March 5. Garnet Holmes,. a young New Zealand inventor, now in Auckland, is proceeding abroad shortly, at the requestof one of the world's largest aeroplane manufacturing concerns, to place off "the market a new type of aeroplane engine. It is* considered that an aeroplane fitted with the engine would be able to fly from London to New York in 24 hours, consuming only about 150 gallons of petrol, whereas-.the present' engines-require 600 gallons. Mr Holmes has had ten years' experience in England, and commenced as a motor car designer and engineer.
