REPLY TO MR INGRAM.
To the Editor. s Sir, —Beading the opening sentences of Mr Ingram’s IctteT in your last t issue, no- one would expect anything * else than favour of Prohibition. I have - looked .in vain through the letter to > discover his opinion, which I should 1 imagine is in favour of Continuance. Did you by any chance, excise any sen- , teuco in which ho made his ideas clear 1 His statement that only a lunatic would advocate the use of booze makes one quite confused as to what he thinks on the question. One word of correction I would like to give him through your columns. Mr L. M. Isitt was, I firmly believe, never secretary of the New Zealand Alliance. Whether or not ho is a P.P.A. member docs not affect his standing as a Prohibitionist, except to J a few. Tho Golden Buie which concluded Sir Ingram’s letter does not fit in with his reference to the Bev. J. Dawson, whom a number of us know to be one of 'tho best. His failing, in your
correspondent’s opinion, is that he is endeavouring to . get a majority of electors to see with him that his own health and strength would be enjoyed by many others if the bars are closed. —Yours, etc., H. WHITE. February 21, 1919.
