| OTAKI V. FOXTON. | >’ WIN FOR OTAKI, j§ Some twenty-one bowlers from the il.'oxtou Club journeyed to Otaki on fwcdncsdny to indulge in friendly Imatchcs with members of the local [Club. The day was fine, and, the green keen, while many, interesting heads resulted. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea, and at tho conclusion the popular president (Mr Ay re) .thanked the Foxtonites for coming, and made brief reference to the interest aroused by the visit. Mr F. I>. Whililey replied on behalf of tiro visi- : tors, referred to tho fine reception accorded them, and expressed a hope that an annual fixture would be arranged between the two clubs. Ho hoped to see both clubs give encouragement to younger members, considering this preferrable to being “pot-hunters.” Cheers were then exchanged, while a similar compliment was accorded the ladies. Following are the results of the play, Otaki being mentioned first in each case:—

Gooding, Ayre, K, J\ Smith, Bills, (.?.) v. Huntly, Ross, Christie, Woods (s.), 23-21. Otaki opened badly and were eleven down on the fourth head, allowing Boxton to secure two threes, a four, and a single. The home players then put up better stuff, and on the 11th head were even—l 2-12. Boston then took temporary command, but on tho 17th head was one down, 19-IS. Play to the end of the game was even, Otaki securing four and Fox ton three. Canning. St. George, Webster, Witchell (s.) v. Heasman, Healy, Walker, Hawke (s.). Tho visitors had all the best of the game. They led from the start, improved their position as the game progressed, and walked home winners to the tune of 27-13. Their score included two fives, a four and a

three. Cook. Knight, Petrie, I). Koble (s.) v, Lumsden, McMurray, Barr, Whibley (s.). Boston established a lead early in the game, and on the 11th head had scored 10-5, and on the 16th 1.5-S, After this they failed to seore, and Otaki by adding a four, a three and two twos run their total to 20, thus , w inning by 5. The game was 12-9 In Otaki's favour on the 9th head, but on the next head Boston lay four, and led 13-12, * Otaki gained a lead of one oh the 13th head, and on the 16th head were 22-16.'
