MANAKAU NOTES.

On Wednesday next a team from the local Tennis Club will visit Shannon, and try conclusions with the Shannon players. The following will represent Manakau:—Mesdames Mickle, Burnell and Les.’Atkins, Misses Houghton and Cotter, Andrew, Simeon, Ray Drake, Kofoed, and J. Burnell. A very successful and enjoyable social gathering was held on Friday eight, to raise funds for tennis court improvements. Much interest was taken in the euchre party, the first prizes being won by Mrs Cook and Mr Ralph Bevar.. Dancing was afterwards indulged in, and alt spent a very pleasant time. The committee the indefatigable secretary (Mrs Mickle) in particular—worked hard to pro vide A a > pleasant evening. The takings totalled | about £<>. ■ I A welcome home to Privates, Brake, : H. and C. Bird, and M. Ranger will be held at the Manakau Town Hall os Friday next, as advertised.
