Rust and dampness will never attack the wires of a piano if a small lyig of unslaked lime is tacked inside the instrument under the cover, as this will absorb the moisture. The easiest way to wind a skein of yarn is to place two flat irons on the kitchen, table as far apart as the length of the skein and slip the yarn over them. I To clean a white enamel bedstead 1 dissolve a tablcspoonful of carbonate of ' soda in one pint of warm water. Dip ' a piece of soft flannel iuto the solution • and wipe the bedstead. It will remove all dirt marks without injuring the enamel. j To dry-clean a hair brush, take a tcaI cupful of oatmeal or cornmeal and till j the brush, rubbing gently with the j hand. As the meal absorbs the grease and dirt, shake it out uml use fresh meal, and repeat the process till the 1 brush is thoroughly* clean, hodling the latter all the time over a sheet, of newspatter. By this dry-cleaning method I the mount of the brush is saved the risk of injury from the use of hot I water and soda. I In sowing buttons on coats, sew over a match or tooth pick, and wrap thread for a “shank.” To clean patent leather shoes the dirt must first be removed with a damp doth or sponge, and then, they must be i wiped dry with a duster, and rubbed over with ,a little vaseline.t Polish with a dry duster, and. then wtih a silk 1 hankerchief, and you should get a . brilliant shine. J If you anoint, the hoi water bag frequently with glycerine it will be kept ! free of cracks.
