MANAKAU NOTES.
(From our own Correspondent.) i New Year's Eve passed away, quietly in Manakau. A ftw of the more lively young people got; up to pranks, as usual, lifting gates, etc., but little or no damage was /lone to property, it is | pleasing to say,/ x i Despite the bid weather the tenuis I tournament (Ypkco Doubles) was held 1 in the afteruum, a late start, being Dtndc owing tome weather. Five rounds > were got off./and keen interest was taken in theplay by the large number competing. a>o by a number of spectators. TUe tinning couple were Miss Pashc <Wellingi';\ and Eglinton, while Miss Hough to. and Robinson (Wellington) were rnii.-rs-up. Tho •' prize*, which were donnteUty Mr and Mrs Andrew, were .i y v Andrew, who heartily thanked Airs I Micklc (secretary) for the. trouble »\ *4 had taken over the tournament. MP Andrew also referred to the fact (hat •me of the Club's membOrH (Private Roland Drake) had recently returned from the front, and said members all welcomed him buck to New Zealand. Cheers were given for Private Drake.
