Messrs Nolan, Tonks and Co.'s Stock Report. At Eltharn, on 2nd inst., there was a good entry anil fair competition for good young cattle and female stock. Hawera, December 5. Our monthly Okaiawa sale was held on Thursday, the 28th ult. The yards were well filled with cattle, chiefly steers, of good quality, all of which met with a ready sale at prices in favor of vendors. At'Manaia, on Wednesday, the 4th inst., barely the number of" stock advertised came forward. The attendance was also smaller than usual. This we attribute to the wet day. Although bidding was fairly brisk, several of the lines not reaching owners' reserves were turned out unsold. We quote— At Okaiawa—2 to 2|-year steers, £3 8s to £4; 18-month to 2-year steers, £2 17s to £2 18s ; yearlings, mixed, £1 10s to £1 18s 6d ; forward store cows, £8 2s 6d to £8 10s.

Mr Newton King's Weekly Report. New Plymouth, December 5. Cattle—On account of the show last week I held my Waiwakaiho sale on Friday, when there was a very large muster of stock, the yard accommodation being taxed to the utmost, and there was barely sufficient,' one or two lots having to remain in the paddocks. Bidding from the start was lively, and the sale was a most successful one. Nearly everything sold at the hammer, very few lines being passed out. Big steers were in best demand, 2-year-olds keeping up remarkably well, and all of this class sold at prices fully equal to, and in some cases in advance of the previous sale. Empty heifers were well competed for at improved rates Springers were perhaps the least saleable, except for anything very forward. I quote—Calves, 16s to 27s ; yearlings, 28s 6d to 37s ; 18-month steers, £2 10s to £2 13s; 18-month mixed, £2 3s to £2 10s ; 2 to 2*-year steers, £2 15s to £8 3s 6d; 2h to 3-year steers, £3 4s 6d to £3 16s ; 3f-year steers, £4 8s ; empty heifers, £2 5s to £2 16s ; springers, £2 15s to £3 5s ; store cows, £1 42s 6d to £2 15sspringers, £2 10s to £4 18s; cows and calves, £2 18s to £3 8s 6d; fat bullocks, £6 10s. At Toko on Tuesday there was a small muster and few buyers. Bidding was quiet and most lines were passed in. Eighteen-month steers made £2 10s ; springing heifers, £3 : cows, £5 to £6 2s Gd. At Stohey Biver on Wednesday the yard?! were crowded with cattle. lhere was a good attendance, but the heavy rain which set in at noon interfered greatly with business and spoiled What otherwise promised to have been a very successful- sale. Considering the weather a good number of lines changed hauds at about ruling rates. Calves made 17s to 26s Oil; yearlings, 30s to 35s ; 12 to 15-month mixed, 39s ; empty heifers, £2 2s 6d to £2 lis 6d ; 2 to 2|-year steers, £2 15s ; store cows, £2 to £2l2s 6d ; springers, £3 5s to £4 ; cows and calves, £2 19s. Messrs F. R. Jackson and Co.'s Stock Report. Johnsonvillk, December 4. At our sales to-day, the beef was nearly all of medium quality, only a few pens of prime sheep, which were well fatted and sold readily, but the lambs penned were very poor. Pigs were at lower values. Cattle.—Bullocks, £7 to £7 15s ; light sorts, £6 2s 6d to £6 17s 6d ; cows, £5 10s ; ox beef, 17s 6d, and cow beef, 14s per lOOlbs. Horses—The supply has been large but the demand slack* particularly for those of an inferior stamp, and prices were slightly in favor of the" purchaser. Bidding was not keen, aud the previous week's values were barely sustained. We quote—Draught, from £ll to £l6; medium draught, £9 to £ls ; light harness, £5 to £lO 15s ; hacks, £4 to'£9 17s 6d. Cattle The. demand has not been quite so brisk genorally. The supply has bec-n an average one,, aud prices slightly in favor of the purchaser, with the exception of those at Waiuku

on Saturday, when the previous week's Newmarket rates were sustained, notwithstanding there was a good number yarded. There was a good muster at Newmarket on Tuesday, and a large one at Papakura on Wednesday. Fat stock were in less than average numbers, but declined in value from Is to 2s per lOOlbs; ox ranging from 19s to 21s. Sheep were penned in average numbers at Newmarket on Tuesday, and bidding was steady up to a shade under the previous week's values. Wethers sold at from 8s 9d to 14s 9d ; ewes, 6s 6d to 10s 9d ; lambs, 4s 9d to 9s 6d. The Wool Market. London December 5. At the wool sales a large catalogue and a large selection of the new clip were offered, the latter selling particularly well. The market is animated, though there is no change in prices. Messrs Murray, Boberts and Co have received the following wool market cablegram from their London house, Messrs Sanderson. Murray and Co, dated 3rd December :—At the wool sales the competition is good. Good greasy combing and scoured merino have advanced a shade, for crossbreds the market is weaker and for faulty descriptions it is very weak.
