Mr Newton King's Weekly Report. On Monday, at the Carrington Road, the clearing sale of Mr Joseph Crokett's dairy cows and farm stock attracted a very large audience, buyers being present from all parts of the district. The cows on the whole were a good lot, though, of course, as might be expected, in so large a dairy, there was a fair sprinkling on the aged side, and these did not elicit much competition. Good young cows at calving were all well competed for, and made fair prices, but backward calvers were not in demand.. Horses and farm implements on the whole made good prices. Springing cows made £4 5s to £7 15s : cows, in milk, £4 to £6 5s ; draught horses, £l6 10s to £lB 10s ; trap horses, £7 15s to £lO. At Stratford, on Tuesday, there was a large muster of stock, and good attendance of buyers, mostly for young stock, and all of the class sold at a sharp advance upon late rates. Dairy cattle on the whole were dull of sale, especially backward calvers, for which class there was little demand. One or two lines of 2 to 2A-year steers, sold at very satisfactory prices. I quote— Calves, £1 4s to £1 9s ; yearlings, £1 12s to £2 7s 6d; 18 'to 20-month steers, £2 12s ; 2-year do , £2 lis to £3 2s 6d ; 18-month heifers, £2 10s to £2 lis 6d ; springers, £3 to £5 ; the latter being very choice ; store cows, £1 to £1 18s 6d ; spriugers, £3 10s to £6 10s; ewes, in lamb, 8s 7d. On Wednesday, at Puuiho, I held a sale on account of Mr J. J. Ehvin. Owing to the rain in the morning the attendance was not large, but prices on the whole were satisfactory.
