Land Board.
The Land Board met on Monday. Present—The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Messrs' Block, Heslop, and Boy. TRANSFERS. The following applied to transfer a.p. lands :—G. S. Bridgo. Section 8, Block 14, Kaupokonui, to T. A. Bridge. ACQUIRING FREEHOLD. E. Witchman's application to acquire the freehold of p.l. Section 29, Block, 9, Kaupokonui, was granted. LEASE IN PERPETUITY. S. Swensbn was allowed to change the tenure of p.l. Section 17, Block 9, Cape, to a lease iu perpetuity. A HARD CASK. Mr J. Duffill appeared before the Board with reference to Section 20, Block 12, Huiroa, held by himself and W. Simmons. He stated that after advertising the property for sale and having put it up to auction no bid was made, and that he and his partner thought it would be best to surrender, and asked the Board to weight the section when re-offered for seletion with the value of improvements. He also stated that he had expended nearly £7OO in cash since taking up the laud, and had had no benefit from it. The matter was allowed to stand over. Mr Duffill being advised that if a purchaser cannot be found before the expiration of the current half year, he and his partner should apply to the Board to surrender the lease. MANGIMINGI BLOCK. Regarding the above block, it was reported that only one half of the settlers who had asked to surrender their leases bad done so, and that two had not paid up arrears of rent by the 31st December, as agreed.—lt was decided that notice be given to each lessee that unless all applications to surrender, together with the deeds, are received by Ist March next it will be understood that those who have not done so are satisfied with their valuation and rent and no re-valuation will be made of those sections.
