Mr Newton King's Weekly Report. New Plymouth, Febnwv 7. Cattle—At Stratford, on Tuesday, in spite of the incessant rain, ;i fair lot of stock came forward. Bidding was fairly brisk and moe-t lines found purchasers at about ruling rates. Yearlings made 32s 6d to 38s 6d; 18-month Jo 2-year mixed, £2 12s Gd ; • 2£- to 3-year steers, £2 19s to £3 5s ; Si-year do, £3 12s 6d; store cows, £2 108 to £2 15s; fat do, £8 7s to £3 103; springing heifers, £3 5s to £4. At Waiwakaibo on Thursday the yards" were" wetf filled, mostly with small cattle. Most lines met with fair competition, but prices were low young stock being three or four shillings lower than last sale. Dairy cattle were slow of sale; but other lines sold at about late rates. Sheep were very dull, and, though every line was sold vendors had to materially reduce reservesr I quote—Calves, 10s to 22s ; yearlings, 25s to 33s ; 18-month steers, 38s 6d to 46s 6d; 2$ to 8-year do. £8 ss; 18-month heifers, £2 17s ; springing do, £8 2s to £8 4s; store cows, £2 10s to £3 ; fat do, £3 5s to £3 15s ; lambs, 3s 3d to 4s 9d ; ewes, 4s 6d.
