OPUNAKE POUND.
(to the editor.)
Sir, —As the Town Board is now fixing up the Opunake Pound, and as it is not probable that a poundkeeper will be obtained who lives in near proximity to the pound, it is advisable that some provision be made for the convenience of persons who bring animals to be impounded. I would suggest that an unlocked yard be provided so that stock may be enclosed whilst the-pounkeeper is being hunted up. At the present time, as things are, unless there are two or more drivers, it is impossible to leave stock on the road with any safety whilst looking for the poundkeeper. On one occasion the ranger for the Parihaka Bead Boaid lost the ran of a number of horses from that cause, and more recently gro.at inconvenience has been caused thereby. I think the remedy suggested is very easy, and would not be expensive. Trusting that some provision will be made to abate the inconvenience.—l am, &c, Pko Bono Publico.
