After a long spell, a few members of our local Rifle Club met for practice on the 9th instant. No sensational scores were made. After the practice a team was selected to proceed to New Plymouth to fire a friendly match with the New 7 Plymouth Club. The following are the scores—five shots at each range :

Unfortunately some of our best shots w 7 ere absent, and also notified their inbility to go to New 7 Plymouth if they were selected. The team is as follows:—Messrs McCullum E. Sutton, W. C. Phillips, L. Harrison, J. Wagstaff, J. Colmer, aud E. R. Morgan, with W. Mills and A. Morrison as emergencies.

Unless they show up a little better than on Friday last, I am afraid they have a great “ licking ” in store for them, as there is no doubt there are some good shots in the opposing club. Our fellows, however, are plucky, and will do their best—-and who knows but the fates may favor them. It is rumoured that we are going to have a local. butcher here “ all our own.” Numerous enquiries are being made for dwelling houses in and around the township. Could not some enterprising individual slip up half a dozen on “ spec ?” November 10th.
