FANTASTIC was foaled in 1888, and is highly fashionable, being by the best b'ood on both sides, and has proved himself a sure foal getter. His sire, Apremont (brother to the great French horse Chamant), was bred in France in 1878, being by Mortemer, dam Arancaria (clam of Rayon d'Or), by Ambros—Pocahontas (dam of Stockwell, etc.), by Glencoe. Mortemer by Conquienge (son of FitzGladiator)—Comtesse, by' Baron of Nuncio. Ambros, by Touchstone— Annette, by Priam. Apremont was imported into Canterbury 1882 by Mr G. G. Stead. Fantastic's dam, Fantasy, is by Traducer, out of Miss Flat, who was by the imported Peter Fiat, out of the imported dam Mouutain Nymph, who again, was by Sir Tatton Sykes' Giselle, by Stockport. Miss Flat is the dam of a numerous family, the greatest of whom was the renowned Welcome Jack, one of the greatest race horses ever bred in New Zealand. .
Fantastic is abeautifiilbay, standing 17 bands high, possessing great bone substance, and symmetry. His sire, Apremont, came out at the top of winning sires in the season of 1882, beatiug no less than 186 other sires. The placing at disposal of the breeders of the above districts the services of such a well-bred animal as Fantastic is an opportunity that should not be missed by those who desire to obtain good stock. Lochleven gained first prize at Aberdeen in 1879, first at Glasgow in 1878, second at the Highland and Agricultural Show of England at Carlisle iu 1880, second at the Higbland Agricultural Society Show, Berwick-on-Tweed, in 1880, and Lochleven as a brood mare has never been beaten in the colony.
