Taranaki Land Board.

The Laud Board met on Monday. Present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Chairman), Stock, Heslop, Boy, and Hon W. Kelly, OBTAINING FREEHOLD. The following applied to obtain freehold of P.L. lands;—H. Barton, Section 8, Block v, Kaupokonui; A. Robinson, junr, Section 8, Block vn, Kaupokonui; D.P. lands : J. Machray, Section 2, Block xni, Opunake; W. J. Green, Section 28, Block in, Ngaire; J. Chapman, Section 80, Block ix, Kaupokonui; J. Gibson, Section 90, Block ix, Kaupokonui; J. Carmichael, Section 9, Block vin.—Acceded to. LAND APPLIED FOB. The land applied for since last meeting was as under:—J. Farrell, Section 7, Block v, Upper Waitara, 360 acres. —The schedule was agreed to. TRANFERS. G. J. Mudford’s application to transfer half his interest in D.P. Section 14, Block v, Kaupokonui, to J. Mudford was agreed to. EXTENSION OF TIME. Mrs M. Tocker explained why she had not complied with the conditions of improvements on Section 1, Block vra, Huiroa, and asked for an extension of time to Ist January, to complete felling of 100 acres of bush.— Upon the payment of arrears, Mrs Tocker, will be allowed until 81st December to complete improvements. AMENDING LICENSE. J. Stiller applied for his license of Section 4, Block lvi, to be amended in consequence of 2 roods 37 perches having been taken for a deviation of the Ratakipo Road.—Agreed to. MORTGAGES. Two applications to mortgage were favorably considered. REDRESS WANTED. The Clifton County Council applied for a redress under sections 124 of the Land Act in the matter of rates due by Messrs P. and C. E. Pederson on section vm, Block iv, Huiroa. It was decided to notifiy the selectors that the section is liable to forfeiture if the said rates remain unpaid for 80 days after this notice. MANGAMINGI. Mr Gibson appeared before the Board with reference to the price of the lands in the above block, he having received advice that the Waste Lands Committee had reported favorably upon the petition of the settlers for a reduction in the prices of section.—He was advised that no instructions in the matter had been received from the Government. MANAIA TOWNSHIP. The Chairman of the Manaia Town Board suggested that the sale of sections in the above township should ake place on 3rd October, to be held ■si Manaia, instead of in New Plymouth. —On the motion of Hon Mr Kelly, it vaa resolved that owing to the proba- ; ility of only one or two sections being old, the expenses of holding the sale : t Manaia would not be covered, and hat therefore it is considered inadvisable to hold the sale there.—News.
