ANOTHER SWINDLE.
(TO THE EDITOR.) Sir,—l beg to call your attention to the attempt of the Legislature to " ring in " on the dairy farmers an 111 b gallon. Now, sir, why should we have to give 10 per cent more milk for a gallon than the brewer or retailer of beer ? Why, simply because the members of House consider farmers as so many " softies " or " bush loonies " ; otherwise they would never attempt such an audacious fraud. I will communicate with Mr McGuire and let you know his opinion. Meanwhile, let your readers keep an eye on the supporters of this one-sided measure (which has been drafted by the part owner of some South Island factories), and they will find them to be shareholders in dairy factories and representatives of the larger towns—the latter, the real enemies of the farmer.—l am, &c, . W. R. Wright. Rahotu, August 16th, 1894.
