FIRE BRIGADE.

(TO THE Emron.) A ‘ Sm,—once more I must crave your l indulgence for a few words on the} above subject, and then, so far as lam personally concerned, this corr'es'pondence will cease. We have now heard the views through your columns of a few writers on this and other matters that have been brought up alongside it, and whether they are right or wrong in certain subjects _must be left to the readers of your valuable paper to decide, but on behalf of the members of the Fire Brigade, I am called upon to say that unless some satisfactory reason is shownwhy the Fire Brigade is unnecessary, and will never be required‘ in this township, it is. useless correspondents crying us down, for I feel sure that we will go on and prosper like the township we live in, by supporting those that support us. One of your correspondent’s,views of a Bri-gade-are so very vague that I can see he is not in his element in writing about it, and consequently I must point out, in as simple a manner as possible, that a few trained and drilled men are worth a big undisciplined crowd of workers at a fire, and I feel sure that on any occasion—if that occasion should unfortunately occur——. the Brigade would recoup the supporters of it by the extra good done and property saved——that is, provided they are properly equipped. I may also mention, in passing, that the members of the Brigade consist of certain townspeople, including pro-perty-holders. To finish up with, I fail to see how your correspondents can possibly impute feelings of jealousy to anyone in a matter of this kind, as none can exist, and in justice to ‘others I beg to state that the respective businesses of the Fire Brigade clash With no one; consequently it is absurd to talk of jealousy.-—I am, 850.," _
