SEEING THE WORLD
A LOCAL SAILOR Mrs. S. E. Webb has received a very interesting letter from her son Fred who is on the Blue Star liner S.S. Saminver en route to England. When he wrote the vessel was at Colombo and ere this has completed her journey to London. The weather at the time of writing was rather good as far as the Rea was concerned but rather queer otherwise. One minute-^’the sun was so strong you could fry an egg on the deck and the next it was raining so'hard you could hardly see fifty yards ahead. It rained like that for about five minutes and then, more , sun. The steam that rose from, the deck was a reminder of Rotorua, states Fred. Freddy is now a full-blown “sea do"” and it is his intention to ship out of England to the United .States and Canada' and have a further look round the world before coming back to New Zealand. He sends greetings to Tommy, Johnnie, Eddie Blackie and all his old pals in Opotiki and is O K. and happy as a sandboy;
