FORTNIGHTLY PIG SALE Messrs. Dalgety and Company Limited report having held their fortnightly pig sale on Monday when there was a large yarding cf bacon pigs and a very large yarding of store pigs. Baconers continue- to sell to fully schedule rates the top price cf 6 gns. being reached for the biggest percentage of the bacon yarding. Store pigs still meet with exceptionally keen demand, prices in many cases being far above vendor’s expectations. Realisations were:—
Prime heavy baconers, £6 4s to £6 6s; medium baconers, £5 10s to £6 2s; light baconers, £5 to £5 ss; choppers, according to weight, £2 15s to £5 7s; buttermilk pigs, £4 17s to £5 4s; medium stores, £3 16s to £4 15s; small stores, £3 14s to £3 17s; slips, £3 to £3 19s.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report on their fortnightly pig sale held on Monday, as follows: There was another large yarding of baconcrs and porkers. Competition was keen with light baeoners showing a sharp rise on the previous sale. Store and weaners were penned in small numbers and with many farmers looking for replacements bidding was very keen resulting in values in advance of expectations being received.
Realisations were:— Prime baeoners, to £6 6s; medium baeoners, £5 17s 6d to £6 Is; light baeoners, £5 13s to £5 17s; porkers and feeder pigs, £5 Is to £5 11s; stores, £3 19s to £4; slips, to £3 6s; weaners, £1 15s to £2 ssj
