LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS
CANDjDATES—.WHO’S WHO For the benefit of electors who are not very conversant with the names and occupations of the various candidates for the local body elections to take place on Wednesday next, we append a list of those offering there services on local bodies : ' In the Coprity contests are taking place in only two ridings and there is a particularly keen campaign being waged in the Waiotahi Riding. . ’ Waiotahi Riding 11. D l . Bennett, a farmer of Waiotahi, at present representing Waioeka. Riding. . Boris Black, farmer, of Paerata Ridge. C. T. Clark, farmer, Paerata Ridge, a sitting member and president of the A. & P. Assn. A. E. Martin, farmer on Woodlands Soldiers’ Settlement, sitting member and well-known in farming affairs.
Ohiwa Riding This is a straight-out contest between old rivals. V. El. Wilson is the sitting member and is a farmer of Waiotalii Valley. It. Proffit, farmer of Nukuhou. Hospital Board Practically all interest in this election is confined to the campaign for ftho county scats on the Opotiki Hospital Board. Two of the present members, Messrs. E. J. Baigent and A. Ei. Blake are not seeking re-election. H. D. Bennett, sitting member and County Councillor.

D. K. Forbes, farmer, Paerata Ridge. A. J. W. Kemp, farmer, Waiocka and a sitting member. S. Maxwell, farmer, Woodlands Soldier Settlement; an ex-board member.
Wiremu Maxwell, farmer, Woodlands. In company with Boris Black, seeking election as Maori representatives on board.
R. Proffit, also contesting Ohiwa Riding, seat. John Rcdpath, fanner, Upper Waioeka. Returned unopposed for Upper Waioeka Riding on council.
F. B. Starky, farmer Toatoa, and breeder of stud Hyland sheep. The present member of the board and also represents- Otara Riding on council.
Belle Wilson, sitting' member. First woman to be returned as a member of the Hospital Board.
BOROUGH COUNCIL There will be no mayoral contest this election, > Mr. T. G. Johnson being returned unopposed. There are 11 candidates for the seven seats on the council. A sitting member, Mr. Rod. Burnett, recently left the district and Mr. F. J. Short is not seeking re-election after serving some forty years on local bodies. The candidates are :.
