WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
WOODLANDS The October meeting of the Woodlands Women’s Institute was held recently in the Woodlands Hall when a good attendance of members was presided over by Mrs. Noble, vice-president, ill the absence of Mrs. C. J. Hollard. The meeting opened with the singing of the National Anthem followed by the “Creed read by Mrs. Maddreu. The usual business took place the chief topic being “The Food for Britain” campaign.. -Mrs. Mohr was appointed delegate to attend the meeting- to be held in connection .with same. Mrs. Mohr gave a full and interesting report on the recent bi-an-nual meeting held at Waiotaki. The programme for the afternoon opened with the Roll Gall entitled “Ail Amusing Story’’ an;l was well answered. :
The competitions were as follows: Bowl of Shrubs: Mrs. McGregor 1. Tray Cloth : Mrs. -Pilkington 1. There were good entries in both competitions. Mrs. Price gave the golden thread entitled “Winchester Mystery House”. A competition arranged by Mrs. Price was won by Mrs. Mohr. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses for the afternoon, namely, Mrs. Wilkinson and Mrs. Price. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to both ladies. Arrangements for the flower show, to be held at the November meeting were finalised before the close of the meeting.
