WAIOTAHI MEETING The monthly meeting of the Waiotalii Women’s Institute was hold; on December (», -Mrs. W. it. Payne pro,sidling. Airs, C. White read the aspirations, and “.Comrades and Friends” was sung. Final arrangements for the Christinas Tree were made and business dealt with, including the disposal of a number of copies of “Tides of Pioneer Wo,men”. Community singing of Christmas carols was led by Mrs. .Burke, and a roll call “Spring-Cleaning Hints” was well responded to.Charades and a mime of “Poy-Kyc the Sailor” by Mrs. Ooate caused much amusement. A l!rs. AY. H. J cilery gave the Golden Thread “Personalities of the day,” a mest interesting sketch of Queen -Mary’s life. Competitions resulted as follows: Christmas Novelty; Mrs. Snell I and 2. ,d-miu. Sponge: Mrs, Burke and Aliss 15. Du Puntct (tie) I. Best Bloom: Airs. Jeffery (gladioli) 1. Best Vegetable: Mrs. White (peas) I. Afternoon lea was served by Alesdalues Burke. White and Bohinson and the singing of the National Anthem brought the afternoon to a close.. MEETING AT OPOTIKI The December meeting ol llie OpoliIci Women’s Institute was held in the Parish, Hall oil Friday, Bth. December, Mrs. J. T. Thompson presiding over n large attendance.

Tim meeting commenced in the usual way with the Institute Song and Creech. The minutes of last meeting were- preseiit (al lor eonlinnat ion and the treasurer’s report incepted. Ai rangemeiits for the forthcoming garden party to he held at the president’s home in the middle ol January next were finalised.

Christinas enrols were, rendered by Airs. Davy. Alis s Salt and Aliss Sydenham. Airs. N. Clark, of Niikiihou, who Imd just recently returned from a trip to Kiiglnnd aifdl the continent, spoke on her travels. Of special interest were her impressions <»l Germany. Hostesses for the' evening were: Mrs. Alanselß Airs. Hvershed, Mrs. Fisher and Aliss White.

A musical parcel was won by Airs Svdell llil 111.
