MEETING Or EXECUTIVE A. meeting of the executive committee ol; the . Patriotic Committee was held on Monday night, the Mayor, Air, G. S. Moody, presiding. Apologies were received from -Messrs. FI. JIlaigent, S. Al. Jephson and C. Gordon. Air- F. J. Short spoke in connection with the election ,of a new chairman, suggesting that the Mayor be elected patron. Owing to the large number, of duties falling upon the Mayor, it would he in the interests of the committee to elect a chairman. Air. Short proposed Air. 'l'. Steele as chairman. Air. Al]oody said lie was quite agreeable Lo the suggestion' in ,order to help the work. Air. tie Alontalk seconded the motion and Air. CV Ripe spoke in support. Air. Steele said that the suggestion was a surprise to him but lie would d.<)> bis best tu fill the position. The motion was carried unanimously. Air. Steele then took- the chair. A discussion ensued concerning the setting u)) of sub-commit tees and the raising of funds. Air. Short spoke regarding the CenLcmiial liabilities saying tlu\.t be thought this should be dealt with before any further el forts to raise funds. It was decided Unit the matter he referred to a sub-committee to be appointed to report at the next executive meeting. Air. Steele said that a finance committee should be set up as follows’: -Messrs. Baigent, Bunka}l, de Alontalk, Short, the chairman, secretary and treasurer.
