HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

DISPLAY AND LECTURE The monthly display and lecture evening of the Opbtiki and District Horticultural Society wag held last evening in -the Parish Hull, the president, Mr. J. D. Clark, presiding. There was a good attendance of members and friends and the, display of flowers and vegetables was very good, despite the trying weather conditions. Exhibits of special note in the flower section, were a magnificent, head of white hydrangea, beautiful larkspurs, ciirnalipiis, dahlias, miniature pink lilies etc. A very tempting dish in the fruit section was a collection of early peaches and sprays of; ripe loquuts were also attractive. Tim prize for the most outstandling exhibit went to Mrs. Baird for a lovely vase of larkspurs. The special class for specimen gladioli for the Challenge Cup presented bv the Do Luxe Florists was won by Mrs. MJc'Gregor. A lecture on dahlia culture was given. The judges , were Mr and Mrs. I.’ayne for decora Live classes and Mr. F. Roe for gladioli.
