A JO I/ MV OAT 11 JOKING Tlie Woodlands school ground was tin* scene of a jolly afternoon last Thursday .when members of the school committee, parents and childlren joined together in giving Mr. L. Davies, former master of the school, a social altciuoon, Mr. Mlaxwell, chairman of the school committee expressed liis deep regret at seeing Mr. Davies leave and said that liis valuable work lor the children and his interest taken in the scliool and grounds would he greatly missed. Mr. Fetch, a member of the school committee, also spoke ot the many untiring duties performed by Mr. Davies, and said he was very sorry to see such a capable teacher leave. Ho then wished Mr. Davies every success in the future. Mr. Davies suitably replied! in a brief little speech. Little Kola Sargent, on behalf of those present, camo forward and presented Mr. Davies with a silver smoko stand. Master George Bambry then called for three cheers for the guest of honour, after which afternoon tea was served I»V the ladies’ committee.
