SUCCESSFUL RED CROSS DANCE The Red Cross Flannel Dance,'held in the Byrie Hall on Monday night, was a great success, anil credit is due to the convener, Mrs. Quirk, and her committee. The hall was very uncommonly 'decorated! with red crosses and greenery, only red and white iloweia beiim used. A heautiliil flora I cress made oil white roses, with the cross in red roses, was very much admired. The supper wa,s excellent and was served by young ladies -dressed as nurses, who looked charming in their "biteuniforms with red crosses. During the evening. Air. B. C. .Bust-, secretary ol the Opotiki branch, thanked all those who had helped and given assistance to make the dance the success it- was, and he hoped that there would ho many more in aid of such a well-founded society as the JtciJi Cross. The Keel Cross land will benefit by about £lo, which will he a great- help to the work already in hand. Music, for the evening was supplied by AlcDougall’s Hot- Scots, with extras by Mr. J. Savage and Air. N. Billot. The duties of ABC. were capably carried out by Air. I. Hickey. A competition for a box of croeolates was worn by Aliss l\ Wilson. The dressed do!! competition was won by Mrs. A. B-- M'artin. The lucky 'Confetti dance was won by Mrs. McGregor and Air. B. Parkinson. The spotlight novelty dance was won by M ( iss 1\ Woods (Auckland) and Air. 15. Ran. Monte Carlos were won by Aliss B. Abbot and Air. W. Alason, Aliss \V. Tennant- and Air.
