FOREMAN’S REPORT Water.—Dam scoured and intake cleaned. Dead ends scoured. Blow-out and several stop-cocks repaired. Four-inch by-pass has been welded into the main out at junction and tlie laying of the four-inch main has commenced. Fire Plugs.—All fire plugs in borough are cleaned! once a month and would warrant almost- a full-time job for one man to keep them absolutely free of stones etc. Would suggest concreting or sealing strip around plugs. 10-cliain of Church Street broomed, sprayed with M.C.I and coated with chips in readiness for final sealing coat.

The intersection Nelson-Bridge street foundation completed, watered etc. This portion will he sprayed with M. Cl. 1 in the course of a day or so. New pedestrian crossing painted in King Street. Three concrete dish crossings in King Street taken up and new ones put down. New crossing in High Street. Elliott Street main highway, alsol St. John Street, patched with pronvix. Cap rail painted at cemetery. Grass cut at Military Cemetery. Plantation fence at Thompson’s repaired with new puriri posts. Stock traffic sign, fixed at junction. Approximately 70 yards of river metal carted into yard and patching various streets in borough. Footpaths grubbed free of overhanging grass, etc. Streets mowed with harvester mower. Trucks have carted away where grass has been most heavy, also rubbish to dump. AVouldl suggest that the 20 chain of footpath, Bridge Street east, be ripped up and laid again as in its present state not muck can be dono with it. Roads, intersections etc., formed with machine from time to time. Cemetery, lawns, etc., kept mowed.
