'l'his subject was discussed inlormativulv by an officer of tho Census and Statistical Department, Mr. V. Gardner. addressing the Wellington Itotaiy Club, and he said that since the record had been lost by the Dominion, better figures also had been shown by Canada and Australia. What was the cause of this change ? lie asked.
