OPAH . WINS RACE A general handicap race was held mu Sunday in a fairly heavy northerly wind, which was gusty at times. In spite of this, however, there were no capsize*, although “Marie” nearly did so and hall-filled with water, having to retire.. Amusement was caused when a member of “Mianone’s” crew fell overboard through a jib sheet coming undone, just as the beat was tacking past- the wharf. Down, near the bar. the wind was '.stronger and some boats had; a thrilling time before they got around the buoy. All the boats except “Phantom” and “Popeye” (which started; 4 mins. Jate) got over the starting line in a hunch, and kept fairly close together till rounding’ tin* buo\ at the liar; then they began to string out. The starters were;—• Onah—S. N. Clhatliohl. Silver Wings—l). 'Talbot. Popeye—H.. O. Simpson. Maneue— r T. N. Hill. Marie——P. Warren. K n den von r—C. On rrutli or s. Phantom—U. Ccderman. The result of the race was as follows : Opnh—S. N. Chat-field 1 Phantom— V. Ccderman *- Mnncne—T. N. Hill
